Dear potential WP scholars,

Thank you for your interest in Wolverine Pathways, a University of Michigan supplementary college preparatory program.  We are currently accepting applications for the fall 2023 incoming class. We invite you to apply if:

  • you are currently a 6th-grade or 9th-grade student; and 
  • you live in the city of Detroit or within the boundaries of the Ypsilanti Community Schools District or the Southfield Public Schools District.

Wolverine Pathways scholars must maintain a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 to remain eligible for our programming. Consequently, we seek candidates whose academic records show the ability to exceed our GPA minimum. Grades are not everything, of course. In our holistic review process, we carefully consider all requested credentials, including:

  • Essays and short answer responses where you get a chance to tell us a bit about who you are, your interests and activities, and what you have accomplished.
  • Recommendations from one academic teacher and one other person (e.g., coach, mentor, club leader, or a second teacher) who can answer a set of questions designed to help us understand your abilities and willingness to challenge yourself, work with others, and take and use feedback.

Some skills, experiences, or interests are not well captured in writing.  Therefore, the application also provides you the option of:

  • using video to tell us more about you.  
  • sharing your mathematical thinking and problem-solving with us.

Our goal is to recruit applicants who have the academic qualifications as well as the skills, dispositions, and experiences that would facilitate program completion and the application, acceptance, and matriculation to selective colleges, of which the University of Michigan is one.  Ultimately, we want each of our graduates to maximize their college options and enroll in a college that is the best fit for them!

  • compartiendo su pensamiento matemático y resolución de problemas con nosotros.

Nuestro objetivo es reclutar solicitantes que tengan las calificaciones académicas, así como las habilidades, disposiciones y experiencias que facilitarían la finalización del programa y la solicitud, aceptación y matriculación en universidades selectivas, de las cuales la Universidad de Michigan es una. ¡En última instancia, queremos que cada uno de nuestros graduados aproveche al máximo sus opciones universitarias y se inscriba en la universidad que mejor se adapte a sus necesidades!
